**The Supercoppa Italiana** is the annual super cup competition for Italian volleyball, organized by the Lega Pallavolo Serie A (LPA) for men and the Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile (LPAF) for women. Both editions were founded in 1996. The competition is not part of the league pyramid but serves as a prestigious opening trophy, typically held before the start of the season, though scheduling has occasionally shifted to mid-season.
### Format: The tournament is a Final Four knockout event featuring four teams. Qualification is based on the previous season's results: the SuperLega champion, the SuperLega runner-up, the Coppa Italia winner, and the Coppa Italia runner-up. If the league champion also wins the cup, the fourth spot is awarded to the next highest-ranked team in the league standings or the other cup finalist, depending on specific regulations.
### Men's History: The first winner was Cuneo (now Piemonte Volley). As of 2025, Sir Safety Perugia and Benetton Treviso are the most successful clubs, each with 7 titles. Perugia is the current reigning champion, having won the 2025 edition (held in early 2026) by defeating Verona 3-1. Other notable winners include Modena Volley (4 titles), Lube Civitanova (4 titles), and Trentino Volley (3 titles).
### Women's History: The women's edition was also established in 1996. Imoco Conegliano is the dominant force with 8 titles. The 2025 edition was won by Pro Victoria Monza, marking their first title in the competition's history.
### Distinction from other competitions: Unlike the SuperLega (league) and Coppa Italia (knockout cup played throughout the season), the Supercoppa Italiana is a single-venue, short-duration tournament contested between the winners of the previous season's major honors. It does not involve promotion or relegation. The official website for the organizing body is https://www.legavolley.it.
