About

The Slovenian Women's Volleyball Cup is the top national knockout tournament for the sport in Slovenia. Organised by the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia (Odbojkarska zveza Slovenije, OZS), the competition began in 1991, immediately following the nation’s independence. It operates as a parallel series to the 1. DOL, the premier league, rather than a tier within it.

Participation is broad, drawing in forty-six teams for the 2024/25 campaign. The structure starts with preliminary rounds for lower-tier sides before opening up to the top eight league clubs in the Round of 16. Knockouts proceed through quarter-finals and semi-finals played as two-legged ties. The season concludes with a single final match, usually staged at a neutral location during a weekend event shared with the men’s competition.

Victory in the cup grants a place in European club competitions, specifically the CEV Cup or CEV Challenge Cup. This qualification route is separate from that of the league champion, who advances to the CEV Champions League.

Historical dominance belongs to OTP Banka Branik, formerly known as Paloma Branik, Infond Branik and Nova KBM Branik. The club holds twenty-one titles. Calcit Volley sits second with five wins, while HIT Nova Gorica has four. In the most recent edition, 2024/25, Calcit Volley secured the title by defeating Branik with a 3-0 scoreline. Branik had claimed the previous year’s final 3-2. The 2020/21 tournament was cancelled due to the pandemic.
