About

AVC Boys’ U18 Volleyball Championship

The Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) organises the official continental championship for under-18 men’s national teams. Held biennially, the tournament serves as the primary qualification pathway for the FIVB U19 World Championship. This edition was hosted in Haikou, China, featuring nations such as Australia, Bahrain, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, and India.

The competition format divides teams into four pools of four for a round-robin group stage. Following the group phase, knockout play-offs determine rankings for positions 1–8 and 9–16. Unlike domestic leagues, there is no promotion or relegation system; participation is determined by regional zonal qualifications or invitations. The U18 event stands as the sole continental championship for this specific age bracket in Asian indoor volleyball.

Historically, Iran leads the competition with eight titles, including victories in 2001, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2026. Japan holds three titles, won in 2017, 2018, and 2022. South Korea, China, India, and Chinese Taipei each possess one title. China secured the most recent edition in 2024 by defeating Iran 3–2 in the final. The inaugural tournament took place in 1997 in Baguio, Philippines, where Chinese Taipei claimed the first title.
