About
The Russian Men's Volleyball Cup stands as the second most significant domestic volleyball competition in Russia, organized by the All-Russian Volleyball Federation. It sits immediately below the Russian Super League in the national hierarchy. Unlike a league table that rewards consistency over months, this tournament operates on a knockout structure designed to crown a singular champion through elimination.
The current format for the 2025/2026 season begins with a preliminary stage. This phase involves twenty-four teams drawn from the Super League and Higher League 'A', split into groups. Success here determines progress toward the 'Final Six'. Direct qualifiers based on Super League performance, such as semi-finalists and the 'Cup of Victory' winner, also join this elite group. The Final Six divides six clubs into two groups of three for a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group proceed to semi-finals. These matches, along with the final and third-place match, are played in a single-leg format.
Participation in the Final Six is restricted to Super League clubs, although lower-division teams may enter during the preliminary rounds. There is no promotion or relegation between the league and the cup. Zenit Kazan holds the record for the most titles with twelve. Lokomotiv Novosibirsk is the current holder, having defeated Dynamo Moscow 3-2 in the final in May 2025. The competition remains distinct from the Russian Super Cup, which features a single match between the league champion and the Cup winner. A separate Russian Women's Volleyball Cup exists with a similar structure. Clubs like Barnaul, Chelyabinsk, CSKA Moscow, Dinskaya-RCSP, Gorky N. Novgorod, and Kama are part of the broader volleyball landscape in the country. The tournament was first held in 1993.
