Volzhanin Kostroma

What followed was a climb through the divisions rather than a slow build. Volzhanin took silver in the First League of the Central Federal District in its debut season, silver again in Higher League "B" the year after, and in 2021 won that division outright, earning promotion to Vysshaya Liga A, where the club has stayed since.

Pavel Tayursky belongs to that rise on both sides of the touchline: he played for Volzhanin before moving into coaching, one of the few at the club to have done both. Igor Tyurin, a veteran diagonal hitter, joined in 2021 as the promotion push gathered pace, while outside hitter Alexander Yurkin has been a fixture in the lineup since 2022.

There is no fixed derby on the calendar, but matches against Tekstilshchik Ivanovo and Yaroslavich Yaroslavl carry the sharpest edge, the three clubs trading places in Vysshaya Liga A and cup draws most seasons. Volzhanin also runs a youth school and fields a reserve side, Volzhanin-2, feeding players toward the first team it built from nothing in 2018.

The Volleyball Center "Volzhanin" that Tsvetkov financed holds 150 seats.
