The one Superliga medal the club has to show for itself came in 2012/13, under the Italian coach Angiolino Frigoni, with a silver that also carried the club to the final of the CEV Challenge Cup that same season.

The line to that season runs back through the Ufa Aviation Institute, where a team called Tantal formed in 1977 and merged with Ufimkabel six years later; the club, which entered the Superliga in 1996 on Bashneft's backing, with Valery Bagmetov, the club's founder, coaching it there. In 2024 the ownership passed to the Dynamo sports society of Bashkortostan, and the club took the name Dynamo-Ural.

Zenit-Kazan has been the fixture that matters most, billed as the Tatar-Bashkir derby and, as of December 2019, a run Ufa had not won in sixteen attempts.

The club moved into the Dvorets Borby, the Palace of Wrestling, when it opened in August 2024, leaving behind the old Dynamo sports complex. It holds 5,000.
