Watha defeated Doroid Bishkek 8–7 on penalties after a 1–1 draw in the AFC Challenge League preliminary round on Monday. The match ended 1–1 after extra time, with K. Mashlab and Y. Hamed finding the net for the visitors.
Doroid took an early lead when they scored in the fifth minute. Mashlab equalised five minutes later, and Watha struck again in the 84th through Hamed. The game then drifted into extra time without further goals.
The shootout began at 120+1 and ran through to 120+8. Both sides converted their first seven attempts. Doroid missed at 120+8, while Watha scored to seal the victory.
Doroid arrived in Kyrgyzstan on a run of results that included two 5–1 wins, a 0–0 draw and two matches against Alga. Watha had been in stronger form, winning five straight with margins of 1–0, 3–0, 4–0, 1–0 and 2–0.
The result means Watha advance while Doroid are eliminated from the competition. The goal difference and points on the line will be determined by the next round draw.
