Ghana beat Chad 3:0 in the African Championship on Friday evening, extending their unbeaten run while leaving their opponents winless after two matches.
To be fair, the form guide suggested this wouldn't be straightforward. Ghana had lost 0:3 to Tunisia just four days earlier, and Chad were coming off consecutive 0:3 defeats against Nigeria and Algeria. By then, the pattern was clear — both sides had been vulnerable at the back.
What happened on the pitch told a different story. Ghana controlled proceedings without drama, closing the game out with a performance that felt measured rather than frantic. The away end never stopped, but there was nothing to applaud for Chad, who have now conceded nine goals without finding the net themselves.
The table tells the story. Ghana sit in second place on three points from two games, while Chad remain in third with zero points and two losses. The gap might not look vast, but the quality of defeat matters — Chad have lost both matches by identical margins.
And here's the thing about these tournaments. One bad result doesn't define a campaign, but two consecutive 0:3 losses with no goals scored means the support of the fans could be called devoted, but that is an assessment, not a fact. The fact is the club sits top of the table — well, not the club, but the point stands. Ghana have shown they can bounce back, and Chad have work to do.
