Kazakhstan had arrived in poor form, having lost three consecutive matches before this encounter. They had fallen to China and South Korea with identical 3-0 scores, and suffered a 3-2 defeat to Chinese Taipei the day before. This latest result adds to that difficult run, bringing their record to one win and four losses across five games.
Vietnam, meanwhile, had shown vulnerability in their previous outing with a 3-0 loss to Indonesia, but bounced back with this commanding performance. They now sit second in the table with six points from three games, having secured two victories and suffered one defeat. The win puts them three points clear of Kazakhstan, who remain on three points after just two wins in their last five matches.
We had backed the away side to prevail at 59 per cent confidence, and Vietnam delivered as expected. Their attacking efficiency was evident, converting their chances without the pressure of a tight contest. Kazakhstan's defensive frailties, which had plagued them in recent fixtures, were once again exposed.
