Alas Pilipinas arrived in Manila in 2024 for the FIVB Challenger Cup carrying a name barely a few months old, adopted that May, and left with bronze at the AVC Challenge Cup. The team plays its home dates around the capital rather than at one fixed ground, and for that tournament it settled on Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The federation behind the shirt, the Philippine National Volleyball Federation, took over the national programme in 2021 after a leadership dispute stripped recognition from the body that had run the sport since 1961. The Philippines has been sending a women's side into regional competition since at least 1974.

Nowhere is that longer record more visible than at the SEA Games, where gold came home six times — 1977, 1979, 1981, 1985, 1987 and 1993.

Jaja Santiago and Alyssa Valdez are the names most tied to the programme's recent identity. Among the coaches who have passed through the setup.
