Qatar Women

Volleyball in Qatar has grown up inside the Qatar Volleyball Association, formed in 1964 and affiliated with the FIVB the same year. Its recorded history opens in 2005, at the Islamic Solidarity Games, known then as the Games of the Capitals, Islamic and Asian Countries, where Qatar reached the final and finished as runners-up. Two years later, at the 2007 edition, the team repeated the result, taking silver again.

Regional tournaments since have gone the other way. Lebanon held the West Asian Volleyball Championship in both its first two editions, in 2022 and 2023; Iraq took the gold in the third, in 2024, with Qatar finishing fourth. The team's only outing at the Gulf Women's Volleyball Championship, in 2010, ended in fifth place.

Doha has hosted the side too, at the 2006 Asian Games, though without a result worth setting beside the two silvers from 2005 and 2007. The next Asian Games, in 2026, is already on the calendar. At home, matches are played at the Mohammed Bin Hamad Al-Hitmi Indoor Hall, a 2,000-seat venue also known locally as the QVA Hall.

Coached by the Argentine Lucas Carullo, the current squad includes Damla Yagmur and Rehanna Al-Tobaishi, who have carried Qatari volleyball beyond the indoor game as well, representing the country at the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite16 in Doha in 2024. Domestically, the sport is still finding its footing: Qatar did not have an official women's volleyball league until the 2023–2024 season.
