Hartberg came from behind to beat Alttach 2-1 in the Austrian Bundesliga on Saturday at the CASHPOINT Arena. Angelo Gattermayer opened the scoring for the visitors before Benjamin Markus struck twice in stoppage time to complete the turnaround.
Gattermayer gave Hartberg the lead in the 16th minute, a moment that seemed to settle the visitors after a difficult start. Alttach responded well after the break, with Olivier Diawara finding the net in the 53rd minute to level matters. The hosts pushed for a winner but Hartberg's defence held firm through the middle stages.
And here's the thing — the match turned in the dying moments. Markus scored in the 90th minute and then added another three minutes into added time to send the visitors home with all three points. Alttach had substitution options available, with Patrick Greil and Artur Gattermayer both coming on, but they couldn't find a equaliser.
Alttach dominated possession at 58 per cent and created three big chances compared to Hartberg's one. Both teams registered five shots on target, but Hartberg showed better efficiency with 50 per cent shooting accuracy against 42 per cent for the hosts. The visitors also made more tackles, completing 19 compared to Alttach's 12.
The result moves Hartberg up to sixth place with six points from five games, while Alttach remain in 11th on three points. Hartberg have now lost three of their last five matches but showed character to come back from behind. Alttach's home form continues to be inconsistent, with one win in five games this season.
