Yavor overturns deficit to beat Semedrija 1924 in Prva Liga
Yavor came from behind to beat hosts Semedrija 1924 3-1 in the Prva Liga's seventh round on Saturday. The result leaves the visitors in second place with fourteen points, while the hosts drop to fifth on twelve. Yavor had been unbeaten in their last four games before this away trip. Semedrija were coming off three consecutive draws that had stalled their momentum.
The home side ran the show inside the first sixteen minutes. M. Mirosavljev opened the scoring in the tenth and added a second two minutes later. A. Radonjic then pulled one back for Yavor in the thirteenth, and equalised himself four minutes after that. By then the game had shifted from a home-court advantage to something far more even.
Radonjic carried the away side's attack into the second half with a third goal in the forty-ninth minute. Yavor held a high line that left the home defence exposed at times. The visitors were in control of the tie by the hour mark, though the scoreline did not fully reflect how comfortably they had managed the game's tempo.
Substitutions followed in quick succession from the sixty-second minute onward. Semedrija brought on S. Lukovic and K. Saliman, while Yavor responded with changes of their own. L. Cakovan received two yellow cards in the space of one minute in the eightieth and eighty-first minutes. I. Hadzic added a late goal in stoppage time, though the result was never in doubt.
The two-point gap between the sides is worth watching. Yavor have won four of seven and sit clear of the chasing pack, while Semedrija's three draws have kept them level on points with teams above them. The clean-sheet run came to an end for the visitors, but the three points matter more than the statistics.
