Miedź Legnica secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Unia Skarżysko-Kamienna in the fourth round of Poland's First League on Sunday evening. The away side controlled proceedings from the outset and closed the game out with authority. A first-half opener set the tone for a performance that never wavered.
Ángel Córdoba struck first in the twelfth minute, giving Miedź the lead they would never relinquish. Unia responded with pressure but struggled to create clear chances. The home side's best effort came from a corner in the first half, but Miedź's defence held firm.
Karol Antonik doubled the advantage just after the hour mark. He found the net in the sixty-sixth minute and added his second three minutes later, things came to a head as Unia's resolve crumbled. The home manager attempted to change the dynamic with four substitutions at the seventy-first minute, but the damage was already done.
Damian Stanclik put the result beyond doubt in the seventy-seventh minute, completing Miedź's scoring. The home side offered little in response, and Stanclik was substituted shortly after his goal. Unia's goalkeeper pulled off a couple of saves but could not prevent the rout.
Miedź registered nine shots on target compared to Unia's two, and their possession edge of 52 per cent reflected their dominance. The home side managed more attacks overall, but quality over quantity told. Unia's defensive frailties gave the full-back a torrid evening throughout the match.
Luckily for the home side, K. Sabillo picked up a yellow card in the tenth minute before the goals started flowing. Miedź's W. Hajda and I. Maliszewski also went into the book, but the disciplinary issues were minor compared to the result. The away side will take confidence from a clean sheet and three goals.
