Aleksandr Maksimenko

Five appearances for Russia, five clean sheets. Aleksandr Maksimenko has yet to concede at senior international level: 4–0 against Belarus on his debut in June 2024, 4–0 against Syria, 5–0 against Zambia, a goalless draw with Jordan and 3–0 against Burkina Faso in June 2026.

He learned the game in Rostov-on-Don, first at Lokomotiv Rostov-on-Don and then at the Viktor Ponedelnik academy, before Spartak Moscow took him into their youth set-up in 2013. He was promoted to the first-team squad in 2016 but waited more than a year for a competitive appearance, which came in the Russian Cup in October 2017. Between times he kept goal 35 times for the under-19s and made 24 FNL appearances for Spartak-2 Moscow.

The 2018/19 season settled the question: Maksimenko became the undisputed first choice and has held the position since. Championat named him the best goalkeeper in the Russian Premier League for 2020–21, and Spartak's supporters voted him the club's player of the season twice, in 2019–20 and again in 2023–24.

The medals have come at intervals. He won the Russian Youth Championship with Spartak in 2016–17 and took bronze with Russia's under-17s at the 2015 European Under-17 Championship. With the senior side at Spartak he has lifted the Russian Cup twice, in 2021–22 and again in 2025–26.

Left-footed. His contract at the club runs until 30 June 2027.
