About the player
In April 2024 Denisov became the youngest player in Spartak Moscow 's 21st-century history to reach 150 appearances for the club.
He joined the Zenit academy in Saint Petersburg in 2009, at the age of five. The move to Spartak's youth set-up came in the spring of 2019. From 2020 to 2022 he played 54 matches for Spartak-2 in the Russian First League, and he has never been loaned out since — his entire senior career has been spent at one club.
He is also the first player born in 2002 to score for Spartak, and the 179th player to score for the club in the history of the Russian Championship. He has two Russian Cups, from the 2021/22 and 2025/26 seasons, and a bronze medal from the 2022/23 Premier League.
In August 2023 the French club Lille were reported to have offered €11 million for him; Spartak turned it down, and Lille's president denied that any offer had been made. A buyout clause of €15 million was reported around the same period. Spartak have twice moved to keep him: a contract extension in 2022 ran to 2026, and a further extension in 2026 ties him to the club until 2030.
