About the player
Chen Pu came through Shandong Luneng's youth system and, in 2015, was sent to the club's Brazilian training base, Desportivo Brasil, before returning to China and making his senior debut for Shandong Luneng in 2019. Two loan spells followed away from the club that raised him: at Shijiazhuang Ever Bright in 2020 he made 13-14 appearances and scored twice, and in April 2021 he moved to Henan Songshan Longmen for the rest of that season, adding 20 appearances and two more goals. He returned to Shandong Taishan permanently in January 2022.
In the 2022 Chinese FA Cup Final against Zhejiang Professional, Chen Pu scored the equaliser in the 53rd minute as Shandong went on to win 2-1, securing the club's third consecutive FA Cup title. He remained part of the squad through Shandong's further FA Cup triumphs in 2023 and 2024, extending the club's run of success in the competition.
Chen Pu has also been capped by the China national team, featuring in World Cup qualifying matches for the AFC, and was included in the squad for friendlies in September 2023. He has yet to open his scoring account at international level.
