About the player
David Nemeth's career began close to home, with his youth football split between UFC St. Georgen and AKA Burgenland before he joined SV Mattersburg. He worked his way up through the club's second team in the Austrian Regionalliga East and then into the first-team squad in the Bundesliga, only for the club to go bankrupt in August 2020.
He signed for 1. FSV Mainz 05 on a free transfer that September, but spent the 2020–21 season on loan back in Austria with SK Sturm Graz, where he made 28 appearances. A short return to Mainz followed, with six Bundesliga appearances in 2021–22, before FC St. Pauli brought him to Hamburg in June 2022.
St. He was a key part of the side that won the 2. Bundesliga title and secured promotion to the Bundesliga in the 2023–24 season, and the club rewarded him with a contract extension in May 2025.
At international level, Nemeth has represented Austria across the youth ranks, with caps for the U-18, U-19 and U-21 sides, though a senior call-up has yet to follow.
