Lucas Silva

Lucas Silva came through Cruzeiro's academy and made his professional debut in 2012, after a brief loan spell at Nacional de Nova Serrana. He was still a teenager by senior football's standards when he became a fixture in the Cruzeiro midfield that won back-to-back Campeonato Brasileiro titles in 2013 and 2014, a run that earned him a place in that season's Team of the Year and the Bola de Prata award.

The performances in Belo Horizonte caught attention in Europe, and in January 2015 Real Madrid paid around €14 million for him. The club sent him out on loan to Olympique de Marseille for the 2015–16 season. Real Madrid brought him back the following season but loaned him out again, this time to Cruzeiro in January 2017, where he found the form that had marked his first spell, winning the Copa do Brasil in both 2017 and 2018 and the Campeonato Mineiro in 2018 and 2019. His contract with Real Madrid was ended by mutual consent in September 2019.

He signed for Grêmio on a free transfer in January 2020 and stayed until 2023, collecting four straight Campeonato Gaúcho titles and three Recopa Gaúcha trophies with the club. In 2023 he returned to Cruzeiro once again, this time on a free transfer.

At youth level, Silva represented Brazil at both under-20 and under-21 level, and was part of the side that won the Toulon Tournament with the U21s in 2014.
