About the player
Rafaël Teugels came up through Charleroi's own academy, joining the club in 2016 after starting out at RFC Ronquières. He worked his way through the age groups at Sporting Charleroi, playing for the U16 side and then the U18s, before earning promotion to the reserve team, Charleroi B, in July 2023, where he has featured in the Belgian third tier. His contract at the club runs until 2027.
A left-footed defender used at left-back, Teugels has also been capped by Belgium at youth level, appearing for the U17, U18 and U19 national sides. One episode from that spell stands out: he was sent off in a match against Poland's U17s.
At Charleroi B, he remains a product of the club's internal pipeline rather than a signing, with every step of his move up the ranks coming through promotion rather than a transfer.
