Alvarado Agrees to Move to Spartak Moscow
Roberto Alvarado has agreed to join Spartak Moscow from Guadalajara, with the transfer set to be discussed by both clubs in January, sources say.

About the player
Roberto Alvarado made his name early: he debuted for Celaya at 15 years and 21 days, the youngest player in the history of Ascenso MX. At Pachuca he won the CONCACAF Champions League; at Necaxa the Copa MX; and at Cruz Azul he collected the Copa MX, the SuperCopa MX and, most notably, the Liga MX title that ended the club's 24-year wait for a league championship.
In December 2021, Alvarado moved to Guadalajara as part of a player exchange involving Uriel Antuna and Alejandro Mayorga. Since then he has become a fixture for Chivas, named Liga MX Player of the Month in April 2024 and selected for the league's All-Star team in both 2024 and 2025.
With the Mexico national team, Alvarado has built a similarly decorated record. He won the CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship and took bronze at the Tokyo Olympics, then added Gold Cup titles in 2019, 2023 and 2025. He was also part of the side that won the 2025 CONCACAF Nations League Finals, setting up the winning goal in the final against Panama. At the World Cup, Alvarado recorded three assists, the first Mexican player to reach that mark in a single tournament — a statistic that stood out even in a career already full of them.
