Ryan Strain

Coventry-born, Ryan Strain built his career on the other side of the world before returning to Britain. He started out at Modbury Jets in South Australia's National Premier Leagues, where a strong run in the NPL side earned him a senior debut in September 2017. He made 82 league appearances and won the FFA Cup twice, in 2018 and 2019, and was named among the substitutes in the A-League PFA Team of the Season for 2020–21.

That form took him to Maccabi Haifa in 2021 for a reported fee in the region of €270,000. His time in Israel was short but decorated: nine league appearances alongside Toto Cup and Israel Super Cup wins. A free transfer took him to St Mirren in 2022, making 53 league appearances and scoring five goals. His performances were recognised in August 2023 with the Scottish Premiership Player of the Month award.

Strain joined Dundee United as a free agent in July 2024 and made 49 league appearances during his time at Tannadice, though he found the net just once. He left the club in April 2026 to sign a one-year deal with Falkirk, arriving amid an injury crisis at the club.

Internationally, Strain came through the Young Socceroos at under-20 and under-23 level before earning senior recognition, gathering caps for Australia's national team.
