Yago Santos

Yago Santos came through Palmeiras' academy, where he collected a run of youth honours — the Brazilian Under-20 Championship, the Under-20 Copa do Brasil and the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior — before making his first-team debut for the club in December 2021. By the end of 2023 he had moved on as a free agent to América Mineiro, where he had already spent time in the youth ranks.

His spell at América Mineiro was the most productive stretch of his career so far. Santos made 47 appearances for the club, including 13 in the 2025 Série B campaign, in which he also set up a goal. His only senior goal to date came in the Copa Sul-Sudeste in 2026, in a match against Sampaio Corrêa-RJ.

In July 2026 he joined Athletic Club, with América Mineiro keeping a share of his economic rights in the deal. He signed through to 2029 and has since made a handful of Série B appearances for his new club, averaging a rating of 6.8. There was talk of a loan move to the Portuguese side Alverca in January 2027, but it did not materialise and he stayed at Athletic Club.

Santos plays as a left-footed midfielder. He has not been called up to any Brazil national team, at senior or youth level — a point occasionally muddled by a basketball player of a similar name.
