Yaw Paintsil

Yaw Paintsil is a product of Oslo football, starting out at Årvoll IL at the age of five before making his senior breakthrough there in 2016 with nine goals in fifteen league appearances. He moved on to Kjelsås Fotball in July 2017, where he spent five and a half seasons and built himself into a regular, scoring 16 goals in 84 league appearances for the first team while also turning out for the reserves.

His move to Tromsø IL, agreed in August 2022 for a modest fee before taking effect the following season, put him on a bigger stage. Over three seasons in the north he made 63 league appearances and scored five goals.

In July 2025, Paintsil signed for Lillestrøm on a contract running to the end of 2027, in a transfer both clubs described in positive terms rather than as any kind of dispute. Tromsø framed the timing as suiting both sides. Since arriving, he has continued to be a regular selection, with two goals in 22 league appearances for his new club.

Paintsil has not featured for Norway at any international level, senior or youth, and his career to date has been built entirely through steady progress at club level — from local football in Oslo through the Norwegian lower and top divisions.
