Aigle Noir

The ground at Makamba carries a name that reads like a slogan — Stade Peace Park Progress, also known simply as Peace Park Stadium — and it holds 23,000. Aigle Noir play there because that is where they were formed, in 2009.

The change came with the 2018–19 season, when Aigle Noir took the Primus Ligue A title, and then kept going: the Coupe du Burundi and the Supercoupe followed the same year.

What happened next mattered more than the first title. Aigle Noir won the cup again in 2023, and the Supercoupe with it, then took the league in 2024–25 and held it in 2025–26 — back-to-back championships that closed off the argument that 2019 had been a season out of pattern. Three league titles now, all of them since 2019.

The colours are black and white, which is where the name comes from and where it stays.

What the trophy record does not yet include is anything from beyond Burundi's borders. Club football on the continent runs through the CAF competitions, and a domestic champion earns entry rather than progress; Aigle Noir's honours remain entirely national — league, cup, Supercoupe, and the Coupe de l'Unité they won in 2020. For a side that has spent seven years at or near the top of its own league, the gap between winning at home and lasting away from it is the one still open.
