Al Shabab

Al-Ahmadi Stadium seats 18,000 and carries a second name as well, Mubarak Al-Aiyar Stadium, in the city of Al Ahmadi — home ground of Al-Shabab.

The club's history begins on 15 December 1963, the founding date recorded by Kuwaiti football historians. A handful of databases list 2003 instead, a figure tied to the club's re-registration rather than to its actual start.

Blue and white are the colours on the shirt, and the nickname, "The Youth", is simply a translation of the Arabic name Al-Shabab.

The honours list runs to 6 Division One titles, taken in 1974-75, 2001-02, 2007-08, 2010-11, 2017-18 and 2022-23. The Federation Cup arrived in that same 2017-18 season, won on penalties against Kazma. A year later Al-Shabab reached the final again and lost it, also on penalties, to Qadsia. The Premier League and the Emir Cup have both stayed out of reach.

There is no settled derby. Soccer Wiki names Al Arabi Kuwait as the rival, and Al Kuwait and Qadsia are the sides most often mentioned alongside Al-Shabab in the league table.

Ahmad Zanki, Hussain Seraj, Ahmad Ajab, Khaled Abdulqoddus and Vincent Atinga have all worn the shirt, each formed at other clubs — Al-Qadsia, Al-Fahaheel, Al-Sahel and Al-Arabi among them — before arriving at Al-Shabab.

Whatever has been won, it has been won on the way back to Al Ahmadi, to the ground that still goes by both of its names.
