BSI Volleyball has won seven Norwegian Championship titles, in 1974, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1987.
That run also carried the club onto a European stage, into the Champions League in the years around the turn of the 1980s. Vilde Bjelland leads the team now, a reminder that the pipeline from Stemmemyren Idrettshall has never fully dried up even as the club has settled into the 1. Divisjon rather than the top flight.
The section plays out of Stemmemyren Idrettshall, on Øyjordsveien, sharing the site with the football ground next door. It is a students' hall in the fullest sense: BSI stands for Bergen Studentidrettslag, and the volleyball team has always been one branch of a wider student sports club rather than a stand-alone outfit built around the ball alone. That is where the section started in 1967, inside a multi-sport club whose name still explains, more than half a century on, who is actually playing.
