Viking

Bergen's volleyball scene runs through Åsane, the borough on the north side of the fjord where a merger of two local clubs built a team that eventually took the Viking name. What became TIF Viking Volleyball started life as Nyborg Volleyballklubb, formed on 14 May 1981, and in 1990 absorbed Ulriken Volleyballklubb to form Nyborg VBK. The current identity dates only to 2016, when the section joined Turn & Idrettsforeningen Viking, folding a volleyball club with three and a half decades of history into a wider sports association.

Home games are played at Åsane Arena, known for years simply as Arena Nord before the rebrand. It holds 2,000, a scale that fits a club whose history is one of steady continuity rather than expansion — three name changes in as many decades, but never a gap in the calendar.

2,000 seats, one merger, and forty-five years since the first ball was served in Åsane.
