Chattanooga Red Wolves

Before the new franchise had a name, Chattanooga already had a football club playing in red. Chattanooga FC, an amateur side founded in 2009, filled the same market, with no lineage and no roster in common with what was coming — only a city and a colour. The United Soccer League announced the new franchise on 1 August 2018; the name Red Wolves followed on 25 September.

On the field, the club opened with two fifth-place finishes in USL League One before finding form in 2021: third place, an extra-time win over North Texas SC, then a semi-final exit to Greenville Triumph SC. Chattanooga beat Union Omaha and the Richmond Kickers in the play-offs and reached the final, where South Georgia Tormenta won 1-2. That remains the club's best finish. Before 2025, when Chattanooga finished second in the regular season and lost another quarter-final, this time to Portland Hearts of Pine.

Home games are played at CHI Memorial Stadium in East Ridge, expanded in 2023 to hold 6,000 seats.
