Turan Tovuz

Turan Tovuz's most recent line in the record books dates to 2016/17, when the club topped the First Division and returned to the Premier League after a spell outside the top flight.

The club was founded on 23 February 1992 as Spartak Tovuz, taking the Turan Tovuz name soon afterwards. The owners tried Turan-T for a few months in 2013 before reverting to the original.

Its one championship came in 1993/94. The following year Turan Tovuz reached the Azerbaijan Supercup final, drew 1-1 with Neftchi inside ninety minutes and lost on penalties. In the Azerbaijan Cup, by contrast, the club has never reached a final.

Matches are played at the Tovuz City Stadium, which holds 6,800.

Kamran Agayev came through at Turan Tovuz and went on to the Azerbaijan national side, one of a handful from the same youth intake — Elnur Allahverdiyev among them — to make that step up.
