Xelajú

In 2024, Xelajú had not lifted the national title since 2012. In the Apertura final that year, they travelled to face Cobán Imperial and lost the first leg 2–0. Instead the return leg in Quetzaltenango turned into a comeback, Xelajú clawing back the tie to win 3–2 on aggregate and take a seventh league championship.

The club traces its roots to Germania, a team founded by German immigrants in Quetzaltenango in 1928, and later to ADIX, formed in 1938. Neither is treated as the club's true beginning — that credit goes to 24 February 1942, when Club Social y Deportivo Xelajú was formally established. The first of its league titles came two decades later, in the 1961–62 season, when Xelajú beat Comunicaciones in the final.
