Jayden Daniels vows bounce-back in Commanders opener
Coming off an injury-ravaged 2025, the Commanders QB says he's ready to prove himself again as Washington opens the new NFL season.
Jayden Daniels says he is done being defined by the injuries that wrecked his second NFL season, and wants the Commanders' opener to prove it.
Daniels was named Offensive Rookie of the Year in his debut season and helped Washington reach the conference championship game. 2025 fell apart fast: a knee sprain and a dislocated left elbow limited him to seven games, the Commanders lost five of them, and his completion percentage dropped from 69% to 60.6%.
This season he works under new offensive coordinator David Blau. Daniels said the play-action scheme, built around designed rollouts out of the pocket, should let him show off his passing more often. Washington also brought in Stefon Diggs to strengthen the receiving corps.
