Čarda Martjanci

The season that still gets talked about is 2002–03, when Čarda won the eastern group of the 3. SNL. The drop came, and with it the Pomurska League, the fourth level, where Čarda won the title in 2007–08 and climbed again. In 2009–10 they were jesenski prvak — top of the 3. SNL at the winter break — though that half-season lead is remembered locally as a good autumn rather than as anything more.

The second Pomurska title arrived in 2023–24, sixteen years after the first, and the burgundy shirts went back up.

The name that carries in Martjanci is Iztok Kerčmar, the captain, who in 2013 was named the municipality's sportsman of the year — an award given across every sport in the commune, and it went to the man leading a village football team. Around him the club kept the sort of continuity it runs on: Leon Horvat, who had played for ND Mura up the road, took the coaching, and Ivo Cifer served long enough as player and then president that the two roles are hard to separate.
