Eagles

Bert Bell and Lud Wray paid a $3,500 entry fee for the rights to a football team that had just gone bankrupt, and took on $11,000 of its debt along with them. The team they picked over was the Frankford Yellow Jackets; on 8 July 1933, they built the Philadelphia Eagles.

They play in the NFC East, out of Lincoln Financial Field, which holds 67,594 for a full house. The colours are Midnight Green, silver, black and white — kelly green now appears only on throwback jerseys.

Three NFL Championships came early, in 1948, 1949 and 1960, before the league split its postseason into the Super Bowl era. Nothing was added to that total for decades until Super Bowl LII, and Philadelphia returned to win Super Bowl LIX seven years later. The NFC East title has come to the club fourteen times, most recently in back-to-back seasons, 2024 and 2025.

Nick Foles, a backup for most of that 2017 season, was named MVP of the Super Bowl LII win. Jalen Hurts took the same award seven years later, and Philadelphia now builds its team around him.
