ES Zarzis

Ligue 1 has ES Zarzis back for the 2026–27 season, a return the club has had to earn twice in the past decade and a half. Relegation and promotion have followed each other closely enough that down at the end of 2012–13, back up through the Ligue 2 play-off in 2014, down again in 2021–22 after losing a play-off to ES Métlaoui on penalties. President Aly Oueryemmi spoke publicly that year about match-fixing allegations tied to the relegation.

The club carries the name Espérance Sportive de Zarzis, founded in 1934 by Haj Ali Bouchhioua, and its supporters know it as The Blood and Gold for the yellow and red in the colours. Ghariani, a product of the club itself, played on until 2015. The cup put Zarzis into the CAF Confederation Cup the following year, where they got past US Ouagadougou of Burkina Faso before Morocco's OC Khouribga ended the run with a 6–1 aggregate score.
