Ferroviária

Railway engineers and staff of the Estrada de Ferro Araraquara wanted a sports club of their own, and in April 1950 they founded one in the city their line served. Ferroviária has stayed in Araraquara ever since, in the interior of São Paulo state, playing in grená and white.

For most of its first half-century the men's side worked the state's lower tiers, with a Copa Paulista in 2006 and the Série A2 title in 2015 among the results that moved it back up. The three consecutive Troféu Interior wins from 1967 to 1969 remain the club's tightest run of success in the men's game.

The larger story now belongs to the women. Twice — in 2015 and again in 2020 — they were champions of South America, which puts a club from a city of the São Paulo interior among the continent's winners.

Home is the Estádio Doutor Adhemar de Barros, better known locally as the Fonte Luminosa, rebuilt in 1970, 1992 and again in 2009.

The commercial side of the men's football operation was separated out in 2003, when Ferroviária Futebol S/A was created. The name on the shirt, though, still points back to the railway that gave the club its founders.
