«Dragon of the Industrial District»
Aracaju grew up around the mills of the Bairro Industrial, and it was workers from the Confiança textile factory who gave the district its football club, founded on 1 May 1936. The nickname that stuck, Dragão do Bairro Industrial, still marks that origin.
The club plays at the Estádio Estadual Lourival Baptista, known locally as Batistão, in front of a capacity of 15,586. Its record in the Campeonato Sergipano runs deep, with the most recent state title claimed in 2024, part of a run of championships stretching back to 1951. Four further titles came in the Copa Governador do Estado de Sergipe, the last of them in 2015.
In 2025 Confiança reached beyond its usual regional ceiling, going all the way to the final of the Copa do Nordeste before losing to Bahia. For a club built on state-level dominance, it was a rare step onto a bigger stage.
What began as a factory team in white and blue still carries that name into Sergipano football today.
