Serie C (Brazil) 2026/27

The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C operates as the third tier of Brazilian football, positioned beneath Série A and B and above Série D. Founded in 1981 by the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol, the tournament originally launched under the name Taça de Bronze before adopting its current designation. The competition involves 20 clubs that qualify through CBF rankings and state championship performance.

Teams begin the season in a single round-robin phase, after which the top eight advance to a knockout stage comprising quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final. These later rounds follow a two-legged format. Promotion to the second tier includes the champion, runner-up, and two semi-final losers, while the bottom two sides face relegation to Série D.

Vila Nova holds the record for most titles with three wins, securing victories in 1996, 2015, and 2020. Ponte Preta claimed the previous season's championship. The competition's structure has undergone adjustments across several years, including 1988, 1990, 1992, 1994, 2012, 2020, and 2022. The introduction of Série D in 2009 helped stabilise the format.

Clubs such as Amazonas, Anápolis, AO Itabaiana, Barra, Botafogo PB, and Brusque participate in the current campaign. The highest recorded attendance occurred in 2014 during a match between Fortaleza and Macaé, drawing 63,254 spectators. The official website for the competition is cbf.com.br.
