In Belém, football divides along a single line: Paysandu on one side, Remo on the other.

Fifty-one Campeonato Paraense titles have gone to the club since the first in 1920, and the run has never really stopped. That accumulation is where the nickname Papa Títulos do Norte comes from.

Two seasons stand apart from the state championships. Paysandu won the Série B in 1991 and again in 2001, and the second promotion led directly into 2002, when the club took both the Copa Norte and the Copa dos Campeões — the latter still the furthest a side from the North has reached in a national knockout. More recently the Copa Verde has become something close to a private competition: six titles, including the last three in succession, 2024, 2025 and 2026.

The women's side has its own line in the Paraense, with titles in the mid-1980s and one in 2025.

Home is split. The Curuzu, the club's own ground on the street that gave it the nickname, holds 16 200 and is where the atmosphere is. The Mangueirão, reopened after rebuilding work in 2021, holds more than 53 000, and that is where the Re-Pa goes when the city decides everyone needs to be in the room at once.
