The 2025 season finds the side in Venezuela's second tier, the Liga FUTVE 2, playing under a name it did not carry when it earned promotion there. In March 2025 the club became Barquisimeto SC, a project that began as Academia Rey in 2015 and spent years as Fundación Lara Deportiva. The structure did not change, and neither did the youth academy that has sat at the centre of it from the start.
The promotion itself came in December 2019, out of the Tercera División. Omar Castillo had taken charge the year before.
Home is the Estadio Farid Richa in Barquisimeto.
