Haugesund Women

Women's football had no home at FK Haugesund until 2021, when the men's club in Rogaland finally set up a section of its own. The wait shows in the small print: a first competitive match came only on 20 April 2022, a 5-0 win over Stord in the third tier.

The path since has run through someone else's history. In January 2024 Haugesund merged with Avaldsnes IL, and Norwegian Football Federation rules meant the side spent that season as FK Haugesund/Avaldsnes, playing in Avaldsnes colours under a Haugesund crest on the shirt. The federation signed off on the full takeover that September, and from 2025 the team has carried the FK Haugesund Kvinner name outright. What it inherited along with the name were Avaldsnes's honours: a Norwegian Women's Cup won in 2017, with two runner-up finishes either side of it in 2013 and 2015.

On the pitch, the team has had to build its own record from nothing, and it has done so quickly. A second-place finish in the 1. divisjon in 2025, with Kristina Svandal top-scoring, took the club into the Toppserien for the first time in 2026, under head coach Ole-Petter Pedersen Bremstein.

Five years separate that first 5-0 at Stord from a place in the top flight.
