The women's handball section in Jelenia Góra started life in 1982 inside MZKS Karkonosze, and the club has spent the decades since changing its name with almost every new sponsor — Jelfa, Vitaral-Jelfa, Finepharm Carlos, KPR, and now Vitamineo.

The best years came early in the 2000s. The team took bronze in the Ekstraklasa in both 2003/2004 and 2004/2005, and reached the Polish Cup final in 2002/2003 before losing to Zgoda Ruda Śląska. That same period brought a run to the semi-finals of the EHF Challenge Cup.

The Lower Silesian Derby against KGHM Metraco Zagłębie Lubin remains the fixture that matters most locally. In 2021 the club won the Tournament of Champions of the I Liga Women, beating Suzuki Korona Handball Kielce 30:29 to earn promotion to the Superliga — and then turned it down over licensing issues, staying in the division below. Home games are played in an arena holding 835.

Few names carry more weight here than Małgorzata Jędrzejczak's. She won 125 caps for Poland while coming through at Jelenia Góra.
