Romain Corre took over as head coach at Saint-Grégoire Rennes Métropole Handball for the 2025-2026 season with a squad barely recognisable from the one before it. The gamble paid off in the Division 2 Féminine, where the club, playing under captain Charlotte Satgé, finished top and secured the title.
The club dates back to 2001, set up as the women's section of Rennes Métropole Handball through a partnership between ASPTT Rennes and Cercle Paul Bert Rennes. Les Rose et Noir carry the pink and black into the Salle de la Ricoquais, a ground that holds 950 between seated and standing spaces — modest next to the Glaz Arena in Cesson-Sévigné, where the club occasionally shifts its bigger fixtures.
Before this year's D2F crown, the honours board read as a steady climb rather than a run of dominance: Nationale 2 champions in 2010 and 2013, Nationale 1 champions in 2016 and 2019.
