Seahawks

In February 2014 the Seahawks buried the Denver Broncos 43–8 in Super Bowl XLVIII. The team that did it had been built around a defense so feared it earned its own name, the Legion of Boom. Twelve years earlier that outcome would have seemed unthinkable: the franchise nearly relocated to Anaheim during the mid-1990s before Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen bought it in 1997 and kept it in Seattle.

Seattle joined the NFL as an expansion side in 1976, having been awarded the franchise two years earlier, and spent its first stretch of seasons simply trying to be competitive. Chuck Knox changed that in the 1980s, reaching an AFC Championship Game, and Mike Holmgren later carried the club to its first Super Bowl appearance in 2005. Pete Carroll's arrival in 2010 turned steady progress into dominance, and the 2013 title remained the club's only championship for over a decade — until Mike Macdonald's side won Super Bowl LX against the New England Patriots in 2025.

Ten NFC West titles sit alongside two won in the old AFC West, a reminder that the Seahawks spent their early years in the wrong conference for a Pacific Northwest team before realignment corrected it.

None of it carries the weight of the fixture with the San Francisco 49ers, the division rivalry that has defined the NFC West longer than any Seahawks trophy has existed.
