Tampines Rovers

Tampines is a planning area in Singapore's east, built up as a new town from the 1970s onward. Founded in 1945 by local enthusiasts and registered with the Singapore Amateur Football Association in 1951, the club spent decades under different names before settling as Tampines Rovers Sports Club in the 1970s. When the S.League launched in 1996, the professional side split off as Tampines Rovers Football Club, leaving the amateur wing to carry on separately under the old name.

The Stags, as they're known, moved into Town Square at Our Tampines Hub in 2017, a 5,000-capacity ground reached after stints at Tampines Stadium and temporary spells at Clementi and Jurong West while the old site was redeveloped. Matches against Geylang International, the Eastern Derby, remain the fixture that draws the Yellow Brigade and Yellow Knights out in force.

Domestically, Tampines Rovers have been the league's most consistent winners, with six top-flight titles running from the 2004 double season through to 2023. Vorawan Chitavanich built the side that took that 2004 championship and the Singapore Cup in the same year, then added the ASEAN Club Championship in 2005. Gavin Lee, in charge from 2019 to 2025, delivered the 2023 league title and a Singapore Cup in 2024.

Continental football has been a harder stage. A quarter-final finish in the AFC Cup in 2016 stands as the club's best run in Asia, and their one appearance in the AFC Champions League, in 2021, ended at the bottom of the group.
