André Ricardo Ferreira Schutte

Ricardo Schutte scored 11 goals in 26 appearances for Rio Ave B in 2017–18. It came in the first season of a career that has moved through Portugal and Spain.

The step up to the Rio Ave first team was slow. Over four years with the club he played once in the Primeira Liga. Regular minutes came elsewhere. In 2020–21 he went on loan to CD Mirandés and made 12 appearances in the Segunda División.

He left Rio Ave in 2022 and spent that year at Estrela da Amadora, where he played 10 matches. He then moved to UD Logroñés for a season in the Primera Federación. He made 29 appearances there and scored once.

Two seasons at UD Oliveirense followed, with 23 appearances and four goals. In 2025 he joined FC Vizela and played 16 times, scoring once. That spell ended in January 2026, when he signed permanently for FC Penafiel in Liga Portugal 2. He has since made 13 appearances for them.

Schutte was born in Ribeira Brava on Madeira. He is eligible to play for South Africa as well as Portugal, but he has not yet appeared for either senior national team. He has won no major titles or individual awards.
