About the player
Mohammed Shilla was named best player of Tanzania's youth league after Azam FC won the U-20 championship in 2025/26. He left for Sweden and AIK Stockholm in the same season, on a contract that runs until the end of 2030.
His numbers at Azam's academy rose with each age group. In the 2023/24 U-17 season he scored 15 goals and was named the most valuable player. The following year, 2024/25, he scored 12 goals and set up five more in 22 matches. In 2025/26 he had 8 goals and 5 assists in 14 matches. That is 13 goals contributed in a season cut short by his departure. He is right-footed and is described both as a midfielder and as a winger.
Shilla also played for Tanzania at under-17 level. In 2024 he scored against Zambia's under-17 side.
AIK signed him from Azam FC, and the fee was not disclosed. The move takes a player who has so far played in Tanzanian youth football into a Swedish club.
