Galway United Women

Galway United's women's side did not evolve gradually out of an existing setup. It exists because the previous club representing the city in the Women's National League, Galway W.F.C., withdrew, and on 3 December 2022 Galway United set up a senior women's team of its own, appointing Phil Trill as its first manager the same month.

The team took its place in the League of Ireland Women's Premier Division for the 2023 season and won it at the first attempt. That same year it also lifted the inaugural All-Island Cup, beating Cliftonville Ladies 1-0 in the final, and defended the trophy in 2024 with a penalty shoot-out win over Shamrock Rovers Ladies after a goalless draw. A run to the 2026 final ended in defeat to Shelbourne.

They play as the Tribeswomen, a name borrowed from the old "Tribes of Galway," and take the pitch in maroon and white, the same colours worn by the men's team. Home matches are at Eamonn Deacy Park, known locally as Terryland Park, against opponents from across the League of Ireland, with Sligo Rovers Women providing the closest rivalry as the Connacht Derby.

The squad has drawn in established internationals as well as its own graduates: Niamh Farrelly joined in 2025, and goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan arrived from Shelbourne in December of that year, while academy products Heather Loomes and Ava Mullins have both earned call-ups to the Republic of Ireland Women's Under-17 squad.

Eamonn Deacy Park holds 5,001 people, 3,300 of them seated.
