Marcinho came through the Corinthians academy after moving there from Vila Nova, and it was that spell, followed by Ponte Preta, that shaped him before his senior career took him across Brazil in a series of loans and free transfers. The clearest high point of that journey came in 2018, when a loan spell at Athletico Paranaense ended with the Copa Sul-Americana in his trophy cabinet.

What followed was a winding path rather than a settled one: Goiás, Sport, Cuiabá, Botafogo, Vitória, CRB, Avaí and a spell in Saudi Arabia with Al-Riyadh, each stop lasting a year or less in several cases. That instability makes his time at Chapecoense, where he arrived in July 2023, stand out by contrast.

The move paid off gradually. Marcinho was part of the group that won promotion with Chapecoense to Série A for the 2026 season, and he has continued contributing in the top flight, adding goals and assists across the league, the Copa do Brasil and the Catarinense state championship. In September 2026, a two-goal display against Corinthians — the club where his career began — earned him recognition as the best player of the round.

His clearest brush with the national team came in September 2019, when Tite called him into the senior Brazil squad for friendlies against Senegal and Nigeria, though the call-up did not translate into an official cap.
