About the player
He made his name at Zamora in Venezuela, winning three domestic titles before a move to Chile took him to Huachipato and then Universidad de Chile on loan, where a buyout clause in his contract pointed to where his career was heading.
A loan to Toronto FC in Major League Soccer interrupted that run, followed by a move to Tigres UANL in Mexico that lasted only as long as it took Tigres to loan him straight back to Santos. He exercised an option to rejoin Santos permanently in 2023, left again on loan to Grêmio for the 2024 season, and returned once more when Grêmio chose not to buy him outright. Fluminense signed him permanently from Santos in 2025.
For Venezuela, Soteldo has been a consistent presence through a period of rare success for the national side: he played in the run to the 2021 Copa América final and was part of the squad that finished third in 2024. He won the Copa América's Best Young Player award in 2015 and has been named Venezuelan Footballer of the Year on multiple occasions since.
